How AI sorts replies and when follow-ups stop

Reply labels, what stops a sequence, and how to correct the AI.

Updated 20 October 2026

Outly checks your connected inboxes for replies to leads you have emailed and puts each conversation in Inbox. The AI gives every reply a label: Interested, Meeting Request, Question, Not Interested, Unsubscribed, Out of Office, Wrong Person or Other.

When follow-ups stop

  1. Any reply: with Pause on reply on (the default), that lead's remaining steps in the campaign stop as soon as the reply is picked up.
  2. Unsubscribe: the lead is suppressed from every campaign in the workspace, permanently, whatever the campaign settings.
  3. Bounce: a delivery-failure notice isn't treated as a reply. The address is marked invalid and paused in every campaign.

Good to know

Replies are found when Outly next checks the inbox, not the instant they arrive. A follow-up that was already due can occasionally go out in that gap.

Filtering and correcting

Use the filters at the top of Inbox (All, Unread, Interested, Positive, Negative, Meeting, Follow-up) to work through replies. If the AI got a label wrong, change it from the dropdown in the conversation; your choice sticks. The sparkle button next to it asks the AI to classify again.

Tip

In a conversation, Suggest a reply drafts an answer from the thread. Edit it, then click Send; nothing is sent without you.

The AI can be wrong. Skim the Negative and Follow-up filters now and then so a real lead isn't missed.
